News from the island

In our blog we inform you about the latest news from Gran Canaria.

Gran Canaria by night

Our island really offers many facets, from the green north to the touristic south, from the rugged cliffs in the west to the rather windy east with the partly untouched natural beaches.

Many Canary Islands photos of dunes, palm trees and the sea in daylight reach us daily via the Internet through the various portals, so I have now set out with my camera once in the night and hope to have brought some nice impressions for you.

I took the following pictures between 23:00 - 01:00 o'clock. For this I needed a reasonable reflex camera with an appropriate lens as well as a tripod for the possibility of long time exposure and a remote release. My target was the Roque Nublo with its 1.813 meters and afterwards the highest peak of the island: the Pico de Las Nieves with its 1.949 meters. I drove from Maspalomas towards Fataga (situated at 600 metres altitude with about 370 inhabitants), cars were almost impossible to meet at this time of day, the drive at night was really more pleasant than I had expected. Shortly before Ayacata (also known for the beautiful almond blossom) I made the first photo stop, to see among other things the incredible rock formation with the lights of a passing car. Also beautiful pictures were taken at the foot of the Roque Nublos with clouds moving in over the mountains, for me it was indeed a small natural spectacle.

The silence, the smells and the mild wind that passed through the pines was at least as impressive. I have been living on Gran Canaria for more than 12 years now and I can assure you that the island gives you a completely different/fantastic impression at night. It is worth discovering the island at night!

Arrived at the Pico de Las Nieves, I photographed towards Tenerife, where the Teide with its proud 3.715 meters is very well visible. On the other side you can see the illuminated cities of Telde and Vecindario in the valley.

Furthermore I collected pictures of Playa del Inglés and Maspalomas with the dunes at night in this blog entry. I think that you as island fans will quickly recognise the different places, buildings or viewpoints. One of them is the Hotel Villa del Conde, which stands out very clearly with its illuminated towers at night in Meloneras. Then I was in the sunny country (in the urbanisation Los Olivos) and I took a great photo at full moon over Maspalomas.

I'm really looking forward to photographing Las Palmas at night and publishing the resulting pictures in this blog and on the Facebook page of Sun World Immobilien. If you have not been to Gran Canaria yet, our beautiful Canary Island is waiting for you, even at night!
